April Update: Missions

by Mike Niemi on April 02, 2019

Global Missions Update

Later this month (April 23rd – 30th), we have a team heading down to Buenos Aires, Argentina to spend some time with our church partner down there, Liniers Baptist Church and Pastor Jose Luis Lopez. Liniers (pronounced “lin-yairs”) has a heart for ministry and getting the Gospel to the nations. They have been a part of several church plants outside of the city and are seeking to engage not only Argentines, but also other people groups, like Bolivians, in their own city as well as joining MeadowBrook on a mission trip to Cuba this coming September! We are grateful for this partnership and look forward to seeing our relationship and opportunities with Liniers continue to grow to advance the Gospel. This trip down, our team will be doing some training on the Christian life and spiritual disciplines. Each time we do a training down there with Liniers, they bring alongside themselves several other churches, including those church plants outside the city so that as many people as possible can see a Gospel impact in their churches and contexts. Thank you MeadowBrook for supporting such good work around the globe!

International Students at GSCC

planned here at the church on Sunday, April 28th at 6:00 pm. We will host a dinner and game night with the students before they finish their semester out. This is a great way to come in and start to build relationships with some of these students as some of them will not be leaving us but will continue on through the summer and next school year. Our hope as always in seeking to build these relationships with these students is that we get a chance to share the Gospel with them and allow them to see what authentic faith looks like in our own lives. These International Student events are easy on-ramps for relationships where we want to encourage you to go deep with them so that Jesus can change them and they will take the Gospel back to their families and countries.

Good News Clubs

The school year is wrapping up and so are our Good News Clubs. This year, like last year, we ran four different clubs in local schools (Attalla Elementary, Eura Brown Elementary, John Jones Elementary, and Striplin Elementary). Our teams, headed up by Hope Pearce, did a great job as always faithfully teaching the Bible and loving on the kids at each site. They were able to see numerous kids place their trust in Jesus this year as a result of their work! Please continue to pray for our Good News Club efforts and the seeds that were sown that they will take root and next school year we will see an even greater impact for the Gospel.

If you want to be a part of a great Gospel opportunity in our community and you have a heart for children, then please join up with our Good News Club teams! Contact Hope Pearce for more information at 256-393-3647 or
